A key part of urban development is managing infill that works with surrounding development. Pine Grove does just that.
(July 27, 2016) - Pine Grove subdivision in east Iowa City is a great example of infill planning that works.
The 12-lot development on nine acres at the corner of North Scott Boulevard and Lower West Branch Road features a mix of housing types and a mindful effort to save mature trees on the land.
Pine Grove’s mixed housing -- a 36-plex, two four-plexes and 10 single-family homes – comes at a variety of price points to make for a diverse neighborhood. A full acre of pine trees has been preserved as green space on an outlot, and mature trees have been saved on the single-family lots.
Infrastructure is under construction now. Developer Steve Kohli expects to have lots ready for sale by November.
