I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you’ve probably never heard of this University of Iowa graduate program, even though it is a highly ranked master’s program in urban and regional planning with alumni working in 47 states. The Urban Planning curriculum of Iowa School of Planning and Public Affairs has been a vibrant part of the Graduate College for more than 50 years with alums working throughout the world in government positions, in private sector development, with consulting firms, and with nonprofit organizations.
The school offers many combined degrees, with Law, Sustainable Water Development, Occupational and Environmental Health, Social Work, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Policy and Planning or Higher Education and Student Affairs among the combined offerings. The program’s capstone studio course, Field Problems, organizes teams of 5 or 6 students to work on a “real world” project for a local client.
We’re calling attention to this excellent program now because they have an online, virtual, Open House scheduled for Friday, October 29, 2021, to learn more about the opportunities that the School provides. You can learn about both urban planning and public affairs programs, including funding opportunities, the application process, and details about the curriculum.
