Augusta Place

Located in the heart of downtown Iowa City, Augusta Place features 26 two-bedroom townhomes along Iowa Avenue and Van Buren Street, as well as 103 apartments and two levels of parking with 116 spaces.

Augusta Place is a seven-story building with the first two stories maintaining the brick façade to match the design of the unitarian church next door. This multifaceted project included the removal of the existing parking lot, as well as water main improvements along Van Buren Street.

Rerouting of the existing storm and sanitary sewers around the project site was also necessary. The storm sewer ran through the middle of the lot but was rerouted around the building, while the sanitary sewer was replaced so that the existing sanitary sewer that ran underneath the church parking lot could be abandoned.

MMS Consultants designed the alley and sidewalk, as well as assisted with the design of the loading dock and trash enclosures for City Hall along Van Buren Street. New utilities were installed along Washington and Van Buren Streets which required pavement removal and replacement.
