DJI M350 Drone
MMS Consultants now sports the DJI M350 drone, a top-of-the-line piece of equipment with Precision GPS capabilities, as well as Photogrammetry (aerial imaging) or LiDAR scanning to produce 2D and 3D models. This drone will help us increase accuracy and decrease time and cost.
Photogrammetry
Photogrammetry uses multiple views of the same feature to triangulate the X, Y, and Z positions across multiple photos to create a single, stitched view. This is ideal for hardscape surfaces or areas without much vegetation. Photogrammetry provides highly detailed aerial imagery and is much clearer than GIS or satellite imaging.
LiDAR Scanner
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) measures distances via hundreds of thousands of lasers pulses per second. LiDAR has the ability to punch through vegetation and is able to pulse through gaps in vegetation cover.
LiDAR decreases cost, and increases accuracy with one to six centimeters on average. This tool can create 3D models within .12 feet or better, and allows for vegetation to be removed in the 3D model.
